Why Canada?
#1 in HealthCare
Healthcare in Canada is delivered through the provincial and territorial systems of publicly founded health care. It is guided by provisions of the Canada Health Act and is universal. Universal access is often considered by Canadians as a “fundamental value that ensures national health care insurance for everyone wherever they live in the country’. This is the main factor that drives Canada to the top Healthcare in the world.
#1 in Overall Quality of Living
Canada is the only North American entry into the top 10 and ranks first for overall quality of living, which includes political stability, ease of settling in, mental wellbeing, and general fulfillment.
Top 10 in Education
Canada has been named the third best country in the world for education. According to the latest study conducted by US News and World Report Report in partnership with Y&R’s BAV Wharton, this is the second year in a row that Canada has come third when it comes to global education and will remain high among its international peers since Canada’s strength is in delivering high quality education in core areas of reading, math and science.
Top 10 Largest Economy
The latest edition of the World Economic League Table places Canada as the world’s 10th largest economy based on its GDP of US$1.731 trillion (CAD$2.251 trillion) in 2019.
About Canada
Canada is a big place, the second largest country in the world at 10 million square kilometres. It is only surpassed by Russia in terms of land size. Canada borders with the USA, which is the worlds longest land border, with several hundreds of thousands of crossings each day. Canada has the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the East and the Arctic Ocean to the north. It contains ten provinces and three territories. Although physically large, there are only about 33 million people, creating a large need for investment into infrastructure. Major cities of Canada are Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Fredericton, Charlottetown, Halifax, and St. John’s.
Canada’s Landscape
Canada contains some of the most amazing geography. Saint Lawrence River, which is almost 2000 miles, flows from the Atlantic Ocean to Lake Ontario. This river is a major shipping route for transportation of goods from overseas into Canada. Canada is home to the Great Lakes, which are the largest collection of fresh water lakes in the world, comprising an astonishing 21% of the worlds fresh water. The lakes consist of Lakes Michigan, Erie, Huron, Superior and Ontario. Hudson Bay is the massive bay that you can see so clearly on any map of Canada. It’s in the northeast and borders five provinces and Nunavut. In the west stand the Rocky Mountains, a major mountain range that stretches over 3000 miles from northern British Columbia to New Mexico.
Canada is Democratic
Canada is a federal country with a parliamentary democracy. This means that the Canadian people elect representatives to the House of Commons in Ottawa. Elections are run by an arms length organization to the government called Elections Canada. Canada is also a constitutional monarchy, which means that technically the Queen of England is still the “head of state” of Canada. Canada is officially bilingual – English and French - which is why your immigration applications ask if you have any abilities in English and French. Unlike other countries, Canada has a written Charter of Rights and Freedoms that ensures our citizens of life, liberty and security of the person.
